Title: Magura HS33 hoses - insert or not?
Post by: Savara on December 10, 2021, 11:04:10 pm
Hi all. New here so firstly, hi!
I'm the proud owner of a new Raven that I'm currently building with parts from another bike. I need to shorten the hose for the rear brake so have ordered new olives. There's also an "insert" that I cannot seem to fathom, Is this inserted into the end of the hose? The Magura manual just shows the olive and the 8mm insert being used??

You may already have the answer...
Yes, the insert goes into the hose, otherwise the olive might deform the hose rather than itself.  There's a good demo here. it's for a Shimano brake but the idea is the same

Cheers for that. There's plenty of videos around that totally omit the insert part!
