Title: Moving the front derailleur up on an xtc
Post by: mikey3 on September 18, 2014, 05:32:54 PM
Hi all ,I've put this post in technical but thought it might get seen more here, mods feel free to delete if you cant post in two sections               ,I have a thorn xtc with a triple chainset with an 44 tooth outer ring, but this is very worn out now so I have got my self a shimano xt chainset with a 48 tooth outer ring(triple),but the front Derailleur is now to low and hits the ring,so I,m thinking I just loosen the Derailleur clamp and move it up abit and then ajust accordingly so it clears the outer ring, anything I need to know,i wont damage the frame clamping the Derailleur higher up the tubing will I?,its been in its present position for 8 years(its a shimano xt Derailleur which has been faultless and would like not have to buy another either)  thank you for any help   mike

Should be no problem, Mike, so long as you don't over tighten the clamp.

I removed the duplicate post so all your answers will come here.

Best,

Dan.
