Lovely looking bike. Although I'm not so sure of the low loaders on an Audax bike with those wheels. Still as you say Winter trainer / General all rounder.

They're all I've got for now but not planning to carry panniers just yet.  I'll probably remove the racks until I want them

The wheels have had some hammer and run true without any issues so I'm quite impressed with them - I've had them 5 years plus

They are nice wheels on an equally good bike. I should imagine that it rides like a dream. :)

You've got an nice mix of components there, is there any chance of a rundown of parts and frame size? It's always interesting to see what other peoples choices are.

Neil.

Hi Neil
The parts are mostly donated from my old Ribble winter bike and are in most cases second hand "deals" purchased through forums and eBay. ..that said, I am particular about what I buy, but on this bike I have not targeted all high end components.  I went for silver finishing kit but in modern over sized fit, so the bars and stem are deda.  Thompson lay back seat pin.  Campag veloce f and r mech and centaur compact double crank.  Shimano ultegra brakes (I don't like campag brakes).  My favourite brooks ti swift saddle, but unfortunately not brooks bar tape (yet as I cant afford it).  Conti four seasons (23s).  Cheap wheels that will be replaced at some point in the future.   I'd really like I Son dynamo.
The frame is a small.  Crank arms are 170 so not too much toe overlap on front wheel.  I have gone back to spd pedals but not yet tried the xt tour double sided ones - bought so I can pootle around with the kids and pop to town without the need for specific shoes.

The frame was listed on the forum I believe, although I bought it through cyclechat.   At one time Leftpool had it - I have purchased some (Brompton) items from him in the past.

The bike will mostly be used for winter training where I plan to bike to the coast, change into running shoes and run on beach, then return home on bike. I will use panniers mostly to store my helmet and shoes when running and bike lock and trainers when biking.....thats the plan anyway.  I've always loved the look of steel although really I have it the wrong way round, because my best bike is titanium - other than the components this would be much better suited to winter conditions!

Looks great. What make/model is the rear rack? I like how low to the mudguard the top is, mine have a big gap.

I think it looks great - those look as though they are quite fast wheels. I bet it rides well.

its a Thorn rear rack that came on the frame.  Its doesn't appear to be modified in any way, so I assume they all fit close.....I liked that about it also.  I have drilled the supports on my tortec racks in the past to lower them.

Hello,
Yes I purchased the frame which was advertised as a size 550 for some reason. It is as you correctly write, a 525.
Enjoy.

That's too good a bike to take out on winter roads. Send it to me in our more temperate clime and I'll look after it for you over the winter.  It'll love my lanes.

Thanks for getting back.
I can thoroughly recommend the Son Dynohub, been using one through 4 winters now and still looks like new.
Really like your bike, I'm looking at getting on next year in the same size as yours, enjoy.
Neil.

It is a bit wild, but the colors match... I think I'd leave the stickers on.

That bike is sure begging to be ridden!

Could go either way and still look very nice, but since the colors match I'd be inclined to leave them on for now. If they start to peel, then you could remove them entirely.

What a lovely bike!

Best,

Dan.

Hi,
That is one very 'cool' looking bike!
It looked pretty good with the earlier wheelset too.

John
