Title: Cycling as social glue?

A friend in China just sent me this, Will Hutton's account of the personal joys & social benefits of long-distance cycling:

I've not yet read the linked article, John, but I can surely attest the social connections I've made on my present tour have been wonderful.  The only downside is tbe heart wrenching parting from recently made friends who quickly grew dear.

All the best,

Dan. (...who is just west of Budapest -- again, the return leg -- at the moment)

Safe journeys, Dan -- & the friendships will continue, I'm sure!
