Title: My first Rohloff bike
Post by: FN117 on July 14, 2014, 10:40:01 AM
Assembled my first titanium frame MTB bike with Rohloff speedhub

Commencal VIP XXX Titanium Hardtail frame
Rohloff  Speedhub 500/14, 16T, 32H, twist shifter
Rock Shock SID XX suspension fork, 100mm travel, remote control
Christ King headset, carbon spacer
FSA K-Force Light XC carbon fiber seat post, stem, handle bar
Ergon GS1 handle grip
26” Stan’s Notube ZTR rims, 32 spokes, Maxxis tyres, Hope front hub
SRAM GXP ceramic bottom bracket
Shimano XT disc brake set, Shimano  7” front rotor , Hope 6” rear rotor
SRAM Truvativ XO 170mm crank, 42T,  SRAM chain
Straitline AMP pedals, titanium spindle
Mortop titanium quick release skewers
Selle Italia  2014 SLR titanium rail saddle
X-Cross carbon bottle rack

Total weight 10.3 kg.

Used the OEM axle plate and made a special torque arm to divert the torque to the dropout.

Tested 1,000 km on flat.  Runs light, fast and comfortable.
However, the hub is a bit noisy.

Very nice. Headset a bit too evangelical for my taste, though.

Looks good,
the hub will get smoother and quieter with a few more thousand kms.

That is very nice indeed well done.  My Thorn weighs 5 Kg more than that.

I was cycling with my wife the other day and she said my hub sounds like a coffee grinder in gear 7, and it does.
