Title: How much would an EXP frame fetch on ebay?
Post by: neil_p on June 02, 2014, 03:55:01 PM
I'm trying to work out whether selling my EXP frame would free up much cash.... my life plans changed shortly after buying the EXP, so it is overkill for what I use it for.

I can't remember the size, but I'm 5' 8" and it fits me. S&S couplings, 7 years old, dark blue and cream. Very good condition for the age.

I'm sure the good people of this parish might like 'first dibs' if you were to offer it for sale. I think there are some unpainted frames for sale on the SJS website. Have a look, it might help you arrive at a reasonable price.

And you're definitely 5'8" ?  6ft would be better for me. ;D

Ouch... just had a look.... £299 unpainted. I was hoping to sell mine, by a bottom of the range frame, and have some cash left.... doesn't look like much chance of that!

...a decent paint job does not come cheap so you might have a little more collateral to play with.  :)

I saw two identical Models of Thorn frame (I think they were Raven tour) on eBay both with forks. One went for £400+ the other went for £125 including postage. The second one looked better? Take off 15% eBay and PayPal fees? DIRE for second seller but noted the first was back on after a few days. Never followed it up to see what he got.
   Second one

With s&s I reckon £400  to £500 might be realisable,  guessing this was £1500+worth when new?

I wish my EXP had S&S couplings!  I wonder if one could get them fitted aftermarket so to speak?  It would be cheaper than buying another frame.

Framebuilders can definitely retrofit couplers. There's a place Bilenky, maybe in Philadelphia, that I hear does that. Of course you'll want to fine a local place. Maybe Bob Jackson? Of course that kind of work is not cheap.
