Hi All!
I recently came across a four-part article written on the topic of wheelbuilding by Wheelsmith's 'Ric Hjertberg in 1986. I'll bet this will generate some discussion! :)
Part 1: http://www.crazyrides.com/apps/mastermechanic/part1_en.asp?LCID=en
Part 2: http://www.crazyrides.com/apps/mastermechanic/part2_en.asp?LCID=en
Part 3: http://www.crazyrides.com/apps/mastermechanic/part3_en.asp?LCID=en
Part 4: http://www.crazyrides.com/apps/mastermechanic/part4_en.asp?LCID=en
I have corresponded with Ric in the past and found him to be one of the nicest, most erudite people in the cycling community. he has a blog here: http://www.wheelfanatyk.com/ ...and if you love tools, the ones he offers for wheelbuilding are surely drool-worthy.
Best,
Dan.

Thanks for sharing. Bookmarked for further reading. Having experienced my first attempt at a build, I think I need more resources like this :)

Terrific, Andrew; so glad you find it potentially useful. I'll post more links of this sort in future if they might benefit others.
Best,
Dan.
