Title: Brake blocks for CSS rims
Post by: Ubert767 on May 02, 2014, 04:39:58 PM
I am preparing  for our tour of the Via Claudia Augusta next month. Our two Mk1 Raven Nomads  are fitted with CSS rims and I'm searching for replacement Swisstop Blue brake blocks, I'm finding them difficult to obtain, SJS show nil stock. The UK importer of Swisstop products, Extra (UK) Ltd, seem to no longer list them. Does anyone have knowledge of their having been phased out and also have any experiences with alternative products?

Many thanks.

take a look at

http://www.koolstop.eu/index.php?id=60&L=1

seems like Koolstop C2 Eagle 2 and T3 Supra 2 are suitable for CSS rims.

Will they fit my XTR brakes?

Yes,
They fit mine, they are a standard V-brake size.
The blocks slide into and out of the cartridge block holders, and are retained by a small 'split’ pin.

I phoned "SJS" who said that they were in possession of a stock of Swissstop Blues but hadn't  batched them up for on-line distribution at that time. I've  now purchased two full sets and also taken your advice and purchased a set of Koolstop CSS blocks for trial. That should keep us going for a while (or otherwise, I hope !!!)
Very many thanks to those who were able to help, you are a great resource, much appreciated.
