Title: Will profile design cages hold klean kanteen bottles?
Post by: No on August 05, 2013, 03:52:41 AM
?I would most like it to hold either the 27 ounce or the 40 ounce. Has anyone tried these?

Hi DR NO  ;D
Yes the 18 and 27 ounce Klean Kanteen Classic do fit into a Profile Design cage! if you have an Old model with out the tongue or you have (like me) cut it off.

I can take some photo's for you if you like too show how good the fit is!
I find it a little too hard to drink from a Klean Kanteen when riding so only use them when walking about and to hole clean water in.

I also got two Klean Kanteen 64oz (1900ml) Wide for my Africa ride to Cape Town last year, They fit into Salsa Anything Cage http://salsacycles.com/components/anything_cage/ (http://salsacycles.com/components/anything_cage/) I had mounted them to my front forks to carrier more water for on the hot riding days  :o 48 degree's + in Sudan  :o
But got a little ill before getting to the plus part so have not got to use them so far  ::)

I hope this is of help  :-*

Pete

I didn't realize there were so many cages by them. The one I was speaking of is the one in the Nomad brochure. Is that the one you're speaking of?

And how did you mount that anything cage?

Also, I should ask, is the plastic on those profile cages brittle? The Kleen Kanteen cages are VERY brittle.

I just tried my 18 oz klean kanteen in my Profile cage that came from SJS on my Nomad in 2010. It fits perfectly!

Hi No,
1st off Profile Cage are very good! like this one from Thorn below.

How one the Thorn Nomad brochure is the Old design which I missed out on getting for myself. So I got the new design (in photo) and cut off the top tongue with a small handsaw.

Anything cage ? will fit to a STD bottle mount with only two bolts and the new 2014 design is far better to mount to a STD drink bottle cage mounting as it is Stronger.
I had made up some mounts with P clips and plate's of steel and here is a photo of my Africa Bike with STD Drink Bottle Cages mounted for in the cooler 38 to 46+ degree days before I got ill and before the Hot offroad riding that I needed more water (?) to drink!

Please Note we got to refill our own drink bottle's at the lunch truck (at half way) each day and at night again! Yes it was nice and warm  8)

It's amazing that that continent can be in such turmoil yet have such wonderful looking roads. Kinda some bizarre priorities...

It's had to see, but do you have the fuse version profile cage?

Hi No,
No the cages are not Profile but Specialized CASCADE CAGE http://www.specialized.com/us/en/ftb/bottlescages/cages/cascade-cage (http://www.specialized.com/us/en/ftb/bottlescages/cages/cascade-cage) I have used them for years (I think maybe 1989?) I still love them and still use them on all my bikes.
On "Tom" I'm running two Profile and one Specialized Cages.

I only got ill (and died  :o ) because of Bad Doctors (maybe they were not doctors but just saying that they were?)
I got taking to a Hospital in Sudan because I had a pain in my right side and breathing was very hard!
the doctors (?) said that it was my stomach? and X-Rayed me over and over again! was going to open up my stomach to see why I had the pain in my side! But before they did I died and was saved but a very good nurse (from the Cycle tour I was on) and maybe the only one in the Hospital who new how to do CPR. She got me on to The Kenya Flying Doctor's Plane and off to Kenya where the Doctors and Staff are some of the best in the World  :-* and after only 10 Min's worked out the I had very very bad Pneumonia!
If only there was a true Doctor in Sudan when I was just in a lot of pain before going down hill so fast (12 hours) I would have recovered in a few weeks and got to cycle to Cape Town.

That's Life  :) and I'm Alive again  ;D Its time to save and go Cycle Touring around the World (in two years)

Congratulations on surviving Africa, Pete. You get three bars to your Hard Man Badge.

But coming back from the beyond, that's special. What I want to know is, did you see whether they sent my bike on ahead of me?
