I'm after a pair of Shimano 9 speed downtube shifters (Dura ace 7700), if you have any spare I'd be willing to take them off your hands :)
-
I thought that down tube shifters had been phased out before 9 speed became available? The only solution I have seen to have indexed 9 speed down tube shifters was that Microshift made/make some

For some reason Shimano have made 8 (and 10) speed downtube shifters under the Dura Ace groupest. They fully index and are compatible with both double and triple front derailleurs and can be used to friction shift as well. All in all what seems to be a decent way of completely removing the worry about compatibility and gives the benefit of being able to change brake levers at a later date.

Down tube shifters are cool and very light!
and you can still buy them, look here http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=13670 (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=13670)

Yep. Cheapest I've found them for online is £44. I missed out on a pair selling on the CTC recently by being a bit tight...
-
Time Trial bikes still use thumb shifters on the extended bars...as the mechanism is similar I guess Shimano decided to keep making both.
(not being difficult for a change and mess up compatibility as they usually do!)
Does it have to be Dura Ace? I can ask on lfgss for 9 speed downtubes if you let me know acceptable models/price.
-
I think the Dura ace ones are the only ones shimano do. It needs to be 9 speed compatible, and to index shift rather than friction shift - those are my only requirements really.
-
Had a quick look, nothing on LFGSS atm.
Last ones of model you mention sold for £44 new.
If you need them now, the CRC price isn't bad at all.
Else Fleabay Germany/Italy/France you can sometimes get parts cheaper, just check for shipping and paypal (sometimes Germany is bank transfer only...)
