It certainly looks like it could be of use to someone on tour.

Why would anyone, other than tourers, use this?  Why would I want to pay $3.50 to have a package delivered to a parcel motel box when for no additional charge I can have it delivered to my home?

Unless there is someone home to receive it, the parcel would be left unguarded.

Maybe its just because I live out in the sticks, but if there is no one home to receive the parcel, it gets taken to the local post office.

Well, I'm in the US, so parcel services other than USPS would just drop off the parcel (perhaps requiring a signature, which could be pre-filled). It would certainly be useful here if you live in a neighborhood that has parcel thefts.

Where I live, if you're not home to receive the parcel and it is left behind, UPS stands for Unlimited Parcels Stolen.
