I have a question !
;D ;D Amazing but I only start to test my Rohloff yesterday.
8) the sun was there - instead of doing some mechanical job with my tandems, and all the dozen's cycles
I did a 30 km's on my favorite well known MTB/Around the city ! Pleased and impressed
BUT ?? Questions !
a) downhill - on freewheel - IT is nouisy - DO I HAVE always to set back to the 7th gear (or not a must?)
b) gear 3 and 2 (much more noisy ?)
This second hand Rohloff is brand new 18month (and had an oil change-2 month ago) !

Hi,
You can freewheel in any gear you like.
Gear seven tends to be noisiest (when pedaling), but they're fairly idiosyncratic devices.
Just enjoy it, and forget about the racket!

Yes, freewheel in any gear no problem. My Rohloff freewheels silently in gears 1-7, and makes a normal freewheel ratchety noise when freewheeling in gears 8-14. While pedalling it is the opposite, silent in 8-14 and whirring noise in 1-7.

All the low gears are noisy but you soon get used to them and they are only a different noise from a derailleur geared bike. The noisiest gear is definitely gear 7.
Before my first oil change the pedals always turned round but this stopped after the first oil change and also the noise diminished.
Overall I m more than happy with the hub gears but i also have bikes with a standard set up so can choose when to use each as they ride differently.

;) tkx I feel relief ...
Enjoy the ride - indeed

After 6 years' hard use, mine is starting to get quieter..........just give it time ;)

I have these bikes as well, but it has been months since I last rode a derailleur-geared bike ;D
