Hi Lewis

I have them fitted on my Raven Tour, as I have not had any other tyres fitted to it I can't comment on how it would handle with different tyres, all I can say is that with them fitted the bike is absolutely superb. I have used the bike on and off tarmac and found them excellent particularly on loose surfaces and they role well on tarmac. When I come to changing the tyres I would get the same if they are still available. Not sure if that helps

Lewis,
I used XRs on my previous bike and got folding Hurricanes for the replacement.
Having ridden them for around 1,500 miles now they have proved ideal for my riding on mostly tarmac with some off road riding, nothing too extreme though. I now use the extra light inner tubes for an extra rotating weight saving.
I have carried up to 30 Kgs of luggage and they seem to cope well. I run them quite soft for the extra comfort.
Hurricanes - definitely worth a try.
Julian.

marcus,
I would describe my 26"x2" Schwalbe Hurricanes as lightweight touring tyres.
They have a large volume at 2" wide and run very nicely at lower pressures 2-3 atmos giving some 'suspension' effect on broken tarmac.
The tread is very light except at the edge where there are some big lugs for sideways grip in soft ground, these lugs are not used riding on tarmac so progress can be quite smooth and rapid.

I would not recommend them for heavy duty/expedition use, look for Schwalbe XRs are some recent equivalent.
Julian.
