Seems to be @zanf on the Thorn.

I rode that pass in 1959 on my first bike, a Raleigh Trent Tourist with a 3 speed Sturmey Archer hub gear.
I had a saddle bag for luggage and a drink bottle cage. This was on a tour of the Lake District from Merseyside.
I was youth hostelling with my best friend, unaccompanied at the tender age of 12 years old!
My best memory is passing a car on the downhill side towards Patterdale - wheeeeeee! - fearless at that age.
I view my Thorn Rohloff bike as a turn of the circle back to a steel framed, straight handlebar, hub geared touring bike, great to ride.

great memory julk and your still going strong a lifetime of cycling.
must be your secret of good looks and youthful appearance ;).

Here's my Thorn Audax from a trip in August. I was pleased to have those low gears!

I was looking through and thought to myself about posting up images of when my friend, Fish and I went cycling around the lake district over the August BHW, then I come here and find someone has already posted!!
You can view more of the trip on my flickr collection (http://www.flickr.com/photos/chriszanf/collections/72157627589424072/)
Heres a shot outside the pub at the top of the pass with my Nomad to the right of us (with pints in hand!) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/chriszanf/6111422745/in/set-72157627589444174/lightbox/)

Sorry for the delay in replying but I got sidetracked with work, etc.
No worries about posting the photo, etc. I was just pleasantly surprised.
