Title: Audax Winter Riding
Post by: Bearbait on January 09, 2011, 04:40:37 PM
I am considering an Audax mk3, but would want to ride it during the winter. i'm a little concerned by the description. Íinexpensive enough for winter training' .

The recommended width for tires is 28mm.   The most narrow studded tires I can find are the 622 - 700c Nokian A10 which are 30.5 mm wide (Peter White site).  Could I fit those on?

I'm currently running my Audax Mk 3 with Schwalbe Marathon Winter tyres (700x35c). I had to take the mudguards off and have only millimeters to spare around the rear tyre, but it works.

I couldn't recommend using 700x35c, but the 700x32c Nokians would probably be a much better fit.

Bloody Hell, the SJSC "Special" is £1700 !!!!!!

I guess I missed the meeting where £1700 became inexpensive.
