Title: comfort bars with bar ends
Post by: strictnaturist on December 04, 2010, 01:24:57 PM
Hi everyone  I am considering buying a set of comfort bars for my sherpa to replace the flats. Is there enough room on the straight section to accommodate bar ends plus ergon grips?
thanks   hope you are all enjoying the weather!

Indeed there is, I still run comfort bars with both ergon grips and sjsc bar ends:

I love comfort bars, they really do make riding a pleasure.

sn,
Almost certainly for standard Ergon GP1 grips. With the grip level with the end of the bar and the brake right in nearest to the bend there is nearly 50mm spare.

If you have upgraded your Sherpa to a Rohloff  ;D then you may have more problems on the right side.
But even the Ergon GC3 grips with bar ends (http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/ergon-ergon-gc3-grips-standard-prod18267/) built in should work, get full size ones and cut the right one down to fit.

Comfort bars and Ergon grips are the most comfy to ride with I  have found to date.
Julian.

Yes I agree with Julk.  The Ergon GR3 grips work very well with the thorn bars.  They are very comfortable, probably the best combination I have used.

Or even better, get the Ergon GC3 grips (http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/ergon-ergon-gc3-grips-nexus-rohloff-prod18269/) that are designed for hub gear bikes (the right hand one is a shorter grip) ;)
