I've taken the plunge and ordered my new Sherpa today in 610xl size ;D. Thanks for all advise on previous post.
I've ordered the standard trekking spec with and upgrade on the wheels to xt Hubs and Grizzly rims so should be quite quick too with the lighter wheels.
Can anybody offer an opinion on the Dura ace thumshifter bracket that is an optional upgrade from the deore pods? I know they are more robust, but was wondering what is their usability like.
Many thanks,
Neil

Hi Neil,
I use the Dura Ace thumbshifter conversion on my bike and prefer them to Rapidfire shifters.
Find they work okay for me, though you can only index the rear shifter, I don't bother.
I also have an XT M770 rapid rise rear derailleur, which means both thumbies work in the same direction. For low gears pull the levers towards me, highs push away.
Hope this helps.

Hi Mike,
Sounds promising. Is there any risk of the chain/derailleur running into the rear wheel on this set up? I think although I'm not sure that Thorn build their bikes with top normal rear derailleur as standard.

Hi Neil,
Not certain what gears Thorn fit as standard, though I'm sure you could ask them.
Have never had a problem with chain going into the rear wheel, but have adjusted the gear stop so shouldn't happen.
