Hello,
according to various places rear racks can take a lot more weight if they are attached with 6mm bolts, but my sherpa only has 5mm holes in the rear dropouts.
Is it possible to use a tap to cut a 6mm thread without damaging the frame?

There was some discussion on this topic within this thread: http://www.thorncycles.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=1921.msg10583#msg10583 (http://www.thorncycles.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=1921.msg10583#msg10583)
Thorn has this adapter: http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Thorn-Thorn-For-Rohloff-Cast-End-2-x-M5-to-1-x-M6-Stainless-Dropout-Adaptors-11703.htm (http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Thorn-Thorn-For-Rohloff-Cast-End-2-x-M5-to-1-x-M6-Stainless-Dropout-Adaptors-11703.htm). Would this fit the Sherpa bosses?

I have done this with my rohloff exp.
The sherpa rear dropout rack point would need sufficient material round the 5 to 6mm hole - does yours look like it is part of a bigger forged dropout - if so have a go.
I got a set of taps from here. (http://www.modelfixings.co.uk/metric_taps.htm)
