Has anyone been to Denmark recently??

We plan to go in late August, using our campervan.  Taking tandem, also interested in beaches / swimming.

Anyone got any recommendations??

I cycled in Denmark last year but only for a few days. Going from Elsinore to Copenhagen I stopped for a break at the Louisiana art museum: http://www.louisiana.dk/dk/Service+Menu+Right/English (http://www.louisiana.dk/dk/Service+Menu+Right/English)
You can easily walk around for hours as they have more than one exhibition.

If you want to camp close to central Copenhagen (30-40 minutes walking distance, 10 by bike) at a reasonable cost, I can recommend the Bellahoej camping: http://www.bellahoj-camping.dk/ukpladsen.htm (http://www.bellahoj-camping.dk/ukpladsen.htm)
The campsite is open until the 31st of August.

I was amazed at how easy cycling is in central Copenhagen. For some reason you feel safe, despite the sometimes heavy traffic. Here is a blog on the Copenhagen bike culture: http://www.copenhagenize.com/ (http://www.copenhagenize.com/)

The whole of Denmark is very flat so no matter where you go I think you will have a great cycling experience. My experience is limited, but I've been told by friends that there are lots of cycling routes all over the country. As for camping, there are lots of free spaces for cyclists, walkers and sailors, but not for motorized vehicles.

Hi there,

Northern Jutland (Jyland) is the wildest part. North of Lim Fjord. It's easy to find relatively major roads where you won't see a car for 20 minutes. There are some pretty spectacular sand dunes on the west coast up there.

Just returned from Denmark with new Voyager tandem on back of campervan (wheels off, wooden mount made for frame to fix on tailgate mounted rack) . . . .

A shorter holiday than we would have liked.  But we loved Denmark, spent most of the time on Langeland, a very rural island, beautiful campsites and superb cycling.  Ideal territory for getting the feel of our new toy.  Some parts quite windy and exposed,, though, but a superb time.
