Looks great, I admire your taste! Have to ask though, any particular reason (apart from good looks) why you chose not to put fenders on it?

You bring up a good point I hate 'mudguards' or 'fenders' if you call them in the colonies but I do agree that i will probably need them and may have to bite the bullet and ruin the aesthetics or try a crud catcher on the front and something on the back.

Any suggestions on alternatives ??

I too think a touring bike looks better without them, but I'm a fan of the Gilles Berthoud stainless fenders. They work well (very sturdy) and don't make the bike look worse imo. In your case they could be spray-painted black. There is an optional "mudflap" which, I've been told, will increase the lifespan of the drivetrain. In any case you don't get your feet wet. However, the aesthetics of the mudflap takes a bit of getting used to.

And there is always the cheap plastic ones from the local supermarket. Cover them with enough luggage and they won't show :)

Of course, one is probably better off without fenders going places where mud and ice will clog up between them and the wheels. But anyone who has ridden in the rain without them knows the fountain somehow finds its way to the eyes/nostrils and the back of the head. lol

Yeah they are marathon Supremes and they ride really well, ridden on tarmac and towpath and seem very sure footed. I was really impressed with the rolling resistance (did have them at top end of tyre pressure).

The racks are both Tubus

now there's a beautiful bike. It deserves a real good name - have you thought of any that would suit?
