My newly acquired 1998 Audax has a Spanninga rear light mounted on the Chromo Plastics mudguards. There's no cables coming from it and on removing the single screw I found no bulb and no batteries. There is no switch anywhere. The previous owner had attached a Cateye light to the storage rack above.. not very sucessfully.
It's obvious where the bulb goes, it's not obvious ( to me) where the battery goes or how it is switched on/off. Any ideas ?
Lots of reference numbers on the red cover... BS6102/3, RR K300 019, BS6102/2, TP RB 3074, CH10345, IA (E4) 013055, (NL) SPANNINGA 15.

These are usually designed to work with a cable routed from a dynamo (either hub or bottle type).
-
Unscrew it, open waste-bin, drop into bin, close bin then fit a Cateye TL 610

It was a dynamo light
if the dynamo is still fitted either re wire it or as suggested take the minga off and fit a proper working hi viz led rear light
assuming of course you ride in the darkness and need a light

Hello,
If you unscrew it and dump it as requested above, please think of me and post it to me. I use hub dynamos on all my bikes and can use this!

As already mentioned it is to wired to a dynamo - The 'Ground' runs through the mudguard (it has an aluminium core) and up the fixing screw. Much better to rewire this with discrete wires if you are going to use it!
PS BS6102/3 & BS6102/2 means that it is both a road legal rear light and a road legal reflector.
