Title: what cycle computer
Post by: jags on April 07, 2009, 02:25:38 PM
can anybody recommend a cycling computer for my sherpa,i have a  new  blackburn delphi 4, this thing has a mind of it's own.it's next to impossible to use i really hate it.could it be because it is geared towards 700 wheels ,im only guessing .anyway what works for you guys simple computer is what im looking for( cadence is a must )
oh keep the price down ,if i spend to much the wife will kill me.

I've used a wired cateye strada for the last 18 months in all weather without any problems or even battery changes.  I don't have cadence but I believe there is a strada with this feature.  i like the way it doesn't have any buttons and a crystal clear display.  I've read somewhere (maybe here) that someone had a problem with the bracket but mine's been fine.  Before that i had a cateye microwireless that was useless in cold weather and ate batteries.

As far as I am aware, no computer is specific to 700c wheels as they all allow you to enter the circumference appropriate to your bike.

i had a look at it on chainreaction it's around 130euro ,way out of my price range,.i think  i will go for a more simple computer not to many functions ,i like the cadence ,but other than that speed avr.max distance  will do for me.

I just check the price, 77GBP, a bit more than what I paid for but it is full retail price.

Jags, i have a wired Cateye Strada which is a good little unit that i would recommend.  This is also available with the cadence option (i haven't used one myself) for about £30 - £35 and has had some pretty good reviews.

Worth a look at perhaps.

Cheers.

i'll keep the dam thing if it does that again.
