John,
I know you need rain to get Lakes, but...
I used to live at Flookburgh which really is misnamed as it is part of the Lake District's Costa del Sol.
The rain falls mostly over the hills and the 3 mile flat coastal strip has a different climate.

Luckily no one believes me, which means there will be room to move back eventually.

Hello,
I am moving back soon-to Dorset which is the lowest rainfall in UK I believe!

Loved the Lake District when I was younger-having been brought up in Sheffield!!!!!

John,
Any opportunity for rough stuff cycling in Dorset?

I am sorry, I don't know the area well. I have sailed one weekend from Christchurch in my younger days, but the driving from and back to the Lakes was done overnight so I missed the scenery.

Where are you looking to move to?
Julian
