Hello,
I had a little panic in traffic this morning on my way to work and stood up on the pedals to accelerated and simultaneously tried to switch gears to an easier gear. Bad news. Suddenly the handle-bar shifter completely gave way. I thought it broke but it didn't. I stopped and looked at the rohloff hub and saw that nothing looked broken, cables remain attached, etc. But the cables freely move with any engangement of the gears in the hub, and the hub now remains only in gear 14--at least I could continue to work.
The hub I have is identified in the following picture (my bike). I don't know the official name of the kind of hub--it does not have the external gear box ("mech").

Thanks for pointing me to any documentation about how to repair this!

I wonder if the internal cable has broken? I couldn't see anything specific on the Rohloff site but I'd contact them to see what they suggest. http://www.rohloff.de/en/info/faq/speedhub_50014/trouble_shooting/index.html

Thanks. I got to the general maintenance document at Rohloff site. It shows how to change out that cable.

Hi johng,
How many miles are on the hub? As geocycle said it might well be the internal cable. The only time anything like this has happened to me one of the bayonet connectors had come adrift (that was 8000 miles ago - and purely my fault!)

..shows how to change out that cable.
So what happened? I had it two times and it only slipped out of the connector, not broken up to now (> 20,000km).
