This is probably a daft question, but I have just done my first oil change, could I reuse the syringe and oil fill tube for future oil changes?
-
Why not? I've done 4 changes with mine. Clean it out; dry it and put it in a sealed bag.
-
Thanks Eric, it's just that everything in that youtube video looks so clean!
Would a solution of watered down Finish Line Citrus Degreaser be fine for cleaning it out?
-
Hi DomT,
I also reuse my syringe. I don't bother to clean it - it is only ever used with clean oil or flush so I don't see the need. I do however keep it in a zip lock bag.
-
No cleaning... I like the sound of that... thanks stutho!
-
Just make sure you never use the Syringe with the dirty oil.
All the best
Stutho

OK, I'll make sure I won't do that.
I've noticed that once I've taken the new oil out of the Rohloff oil bottle there are tiny blobby bits inside, is this normal? Rohloff have "shake well before use!" written on the side, maybe I should have shook it for longer.

Whoever said that the Rohloff would run smoother after the first oil change wasn't wrong... wished I'd done it before touring Scotland and Brittany!

And just wait until you'r Rohloff passes the 100,000 km mark. I hear they get really nice then. ;)

I have 2, one for emptying the old oil and putting in the cleaning oil in and another for new clean oil. It's a small cost in relation to the cost of the hub so I figure although not needed its worth it.
