I never knew I was in a cult until I came out of it.
I found myself into tour cycling
Itsa long story, but the ride and end of the road is closing.
I usually cycled with older folk back here. On overseas trips it was with my Oh or alone. Now the guys I once rode with have their feet up at home or in residential homes...or forever resting up the graveyard.
I cant do what I once did. Who can? Have sold and trying to sell some unwanted cycles or gear.
Theres little interest.
Gumtree and other platforms seem swamped with workable machines and knockdown prices.
Times and people and pastimes have changed. I say its more uncomfortable riding theseadays. But then I maybe a grouch. When I journey out - and now more often by car - where are the loners and misfits and oddballs? We came,we cycled,we're going....soon gone!

There must be a cutoff point for everyone for every activity, differing for every cyclist.
A cult, eh? Maybe cycling is an occult activity!
Good luck.

Ah but such memories to make you smile.
I know its heresy but have you thought of an ebike? An old farmer I knew in the UK Lake District got one after his knees 'gave in' He said it made cycling a thrill and a pleasure again, but without the aches and pains.
Best wishes
