Title: rohloff oil change
Post by: jcabuckley on September 13, 2007, 10:15:35 AM
hi guys,

here's one for you.........

Just changed the oil in my rohloff the other day. i had all the official kit and caboodle, watched the video and followed the instructions to the latter. the thing thats bothering me is that when i drained the hub after putting in the cleaning oil and leaving to sit for 15mins only about 35ml max drained out, i even left the grub screw out an dripping on the floor for a while! could it be that the oil in the hub had dried out? has anyone else found this (i bought the bike second hand approx 2 years old, maybe the original owner didn't ever change the oil?) it seems to be okay but any thoughts would be greatfully received......

thanks

No problem.  The gears/cogs hang on to a lot of the oil so you don't get it all out.

I think this is explained in the book somewhere.  I've had mine from new and not much oil drained out.
