I don't actually have anything to contribute here, except that I was already thinking, after the links people sent on the tilting wheel three-wheeler discussion, how little we know about the fundamentals of bicycle physics a century and a quarter after the invention of the safety bicycle. Jim's blog post just deepens my impression that it's a bit late in the day to still be discovering such fundamental basics.
