Hey everyone ... hope someone can help! I have Hope QR Skewers holding my wheels on. I noticed this week that even when closed tight the front skewew lever can pivot with not much effort. I.e. if you look at the wheel like the face of a clock, the lever pivots around like the hand on a clock. This means the skewer can tighten or loosen depending on which way you move the lever. It seems the serrations inside the ends of the skewer arent gripping the dropout on the fork.
Are they faulty QRs? Have my forks worn in some way? Do I just ignore it?

U need a new like quick.once u tighten the arm of the QR it should be solid no movement.pop along to your local bikeshop more than likely they willhave a few spare one.

They've hardly been used ... grrr .... a fault in the cam action internally perhaps?

Assuming that you are using the lever operated cam to tighten and loosen it instead of just using the lever as a substitute for a wrench, there might be something wrong with it.
On my newest build, I am using an allen wrench (hex wrench) skewer instead of a quick release, but I always have a multi-tool with me so I can operate it in the event of a flat. I use that kind of skewer as theft prevention to avoid the loss of my dynohub, as I assume most thieves won't have the right wrench in their pocket. This is the one I am using.

Two years ago, I noticed that the rear QR skewer on my Raven was working loose, endangering me, the Raven, and my Rohloff. I replaced both front and rear QRs with Halowheel allen-key skewers from SJSC. Excellent kit, and I've had no problems. I have used the Halo on my Nomad and on my Sherpa on bike tours. I also like them. I think I bought the XL version to get a longer ones due to the thick dropouts that Thorn uses. On one of them, I cut the length of the front one down because the front was too long.

If you get the Halo ones, they take some getting used to because there is only one spring. The end without a spring has a tab that prevents that end from rotating, but you have to make sure you get the tab in the right place when you install them. Otherwise you could bend the tab.
