Title: Brake Block Recommendations for my Non- Front CSS Rims

I'm up to 26 000kms on my Thorn Nomad now and time to do a bit of preventative maintenance...

REAR BRAKE BLOCKS - 26" Andra CSS rims.

(Had these from day one, and only on my second set now, but would rather order my third set now.)

FRONT BRAKE BLOCKS - 26" Andra NON CSS rims.
I'm using some cheap generic brake blocks/holders combined, so have lost my original cartridge holder for the brake inserts,
so do I need these:

This gets one set of brake pads AND new set of holders?

Option Two: https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/brake-blocks/swissstop-rx-plus-ghp-ii-green-brake-pads-for-xtr-xt-for-aluminium-rims/
I am a bit confused as these are the same price as Option One. Is the difference that with the Option One I get two holders and two brake pads, which I need, and the Option Two I presumably get four brake pads with no holders?

I know my questions are probably a bit lame, but I am not a hardcore technically and mechanically minded rider. I am more the type that  "just gets out there and rides the bike." Saying that I'm not completely hopeless, but I'm not brilliant either ;-) I did do a couple of 200km day rides four months after coming back from my broken collarbone and two neck fractures (Nov 2015), so I do ok ;-)

If you are inclined, here is a shorter (135km) ride I did around the same time which has some (relatively?) nice photos. Amazingly I ditched my super heavy Mondials and did this ride on 2.0" Supremes:

I'm at about 15K miles and still the original brake blocks (blue swiss). They are getting a bit thin though!

BTW congratulations on the fantastic recovery! 200 km day ride is a good bit further than I have ever done in all my sixty years!

I use these on my non CSS Andra front rim and find them a good all round brake block

although I still use my original cartridge block holders.

If you want the best wet weather braking then populate the holders with the salmon blocks, although they wear faster.

Thanks Julian, I had seen your first recommendation too, so at the very least I am looking at the correct/suitable brake blocks etc.
