My Raven Tour came with Panracer Pasela 26 x 1.5 tyres and they're getting a bit worn. I was thinking about having slicks, having had Specialized Nimbus many yrears ago and was very impressed with them. I've seen Schwalbe have got a new tyre called the Marathon Supreme in 26 x 2. Does anyone use these tyres, do they make the bike look even more like a tractor than it does now, or will they even fit given the width?
Many thanks for any advice [:D]

My RST has run Continental Contact Sport 26x1.5 or 1.6 from new.
Done approx 2000 miles. They are guaranteed against punctures for a year which I thought was a bold claim however I've not had a single puncture in 2 years! They are virtually slicks [they have a few wavy lines] and they roll well and they are 'all black' if that pleases the eye

I use the schwalbe Marathon Racer in 26 * 1.5, I reckon they have less rolling resistance than the panaracer's hiroads I had, but my average speed is pretty much the same, so one of those 'seat of the pants feelings' not based on any true facts/data. I like the Schwalbe Marathon range, I have never had a flat using them (in a couple of years of riding/commuting/touring in Australia, with some pretty crappy roads).
Not the cheapest, but once you have paid for them, you forget the price and just enjoy the ride. I looked at the supreme, but we didn't have them here when I needed tyres, so I went the racer, I find 2" tyres pretty wide, 1.5" is about it for me.
ps: I have an RST (and still love it !!)
