Title: But is it art?
Post by: in4 on September 17, 2015, 01:55:07 PM
Thought I might add an extra colour to our usual pallet and attach a piece of cycling art for our general perusal and edification.

Nice picture.  She looks disappointed and the visor has fallen off her helmet, has she had an accident? But it must be art because the frame is bent....

It's pretty competent as a painting, but if it is art (and a lot worse has been classified as art...), it is the sort of grim realism, the kitchen sink and all, that I wouldn't want to encourage. What it lacks is any vision or uplift.

Lotsa vision & uplift here:  http://ow.ly/ScbF7 (http://ow.ly/ScbF7)

Spoiler alert:  Reckon it's entertainment, though.  :-)

That movie is widely recognized as a different sort of art.
