Following on from the recent interest expressed by other forum members in clubbing together to reduce costs by buying rohloff oil in bulk, I've volunteered to arrange it.
If you would be interested in a purchasing a 'lifetime' quantity of rohloff oil & cleaning oil (250ml of each) at a cost of less than buying two of the individual oil change kits, please email me to express interest.
I haven't worked out the exact cost yet but it shouldn't be more than £20 inc P&P, and may even be slightly cheaper depending upon postage costs etc.
If you would like some oil please email me ASAP, as it will be first come first served but if there is enough interest I don't mind ordering more than one bulk (1L) container of each type of oil providing the numbers work out at a multiple of 4. To keep costs down the oil will be supplied in whatever suitable containers I can get my hands on cheaply. I'll place the order with SJS in about two weeks time or less depending upon the level of interest, so delivery would be approx three weeks from now (24th Feb).

Swislon & mattwhitford - both of you have expressed interest on forum so I'm assuming you want to participate, but please email me to confirm.

Did you get it ?

Yes, thanks.

*** This offer is now closed ***
Thanks to everyone who has expressed an interest, I have now got enough people to share several bulk containers of oil. I have to draw a line somewhere so no more!
I will shortly send out an email to everyone with the costs involved etc.

I've not yet got my Thorn, so I've never seen or used the oil change kit. I have though seen the video on SJS. Please could you explain what oil is sold by SJS (quantities, prices, etc) and what you are selling. I've already signed up and I'm sure it's a great deal, but I'd just like to understand what I'll be getting. Thanks.

A rohloff oil change requires that you flush out the old oil using rohloff cleaning oil, then refill using normal rohloff oil. The hub only hold a tiny quantity of oil, max 25ml though IIRC only about 15ml is required.
Unfortunately you can only purchase the oil in kits that contain 25ml of each type of oil at a cost of £12 or 1L containers (£30 each) which are really aimed at bike shops. The oil change kits are very expensive for what they are, especially after adding postage costs, but equally it is overkill and also expensive to buy the 1L containers (remember you need two types of oil) individually as they contain far more oil than you are ever likely to need. Hence clubbing together to split the 1L bulk containers in to 250ml quantities which is plenty.
Please note that you can also get a complete oil change kit for £18 which has the 25ml quantities of oil plus a syringe, tubing and a spare drain plug which you may want to consider for your first oil change as the syringe will make life easier.

Thanks for clearing that up, it's all clear now. Cheers.

Oil received,
With many Thanks
