Hi,
I have just had tooth break off cog on Rohloff hub so need to remove and replace it. I am looking to borrow a cog removal tool from someone who lives near Ware (East Herts). I do own the tool, but by a cruel twist of fate, mine is presently in Germany! I really don't want to buy another so hope someone local can lend me one.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve, I'm in Hemel Hempstead but I have no transport.

Hi Richie,
I could make my way to you whenever is convenient. Could bring wheel and do it on the spot (provided cog'll loosen without too much work!) You can reply to my email if you like (on my summary).
Thanks for getting in touch,
Cheers,
Steve

Was good to meet you last week Steve and it was pleasure to help you with your wheel.
After being looked after by strangers for so long it's nice to get the opportunity to give something back.

I don't want to come across too deep, philosophical or hippyish but having travelled around for a while and been on the end of countless random acts of kindness, no matter how small. I have started to see myself as much more a part of the planet rather than an individual. Knowing how each of those small acts done for me has built up over time and changed my attitude I now realise how powerful a small offer of time, money, knowledge or kindness can be. Never think what your doing is too small to make a difference is the conclusion I've come too.
:)
I haven't read James Lovelock's Gaia Hypothesis. I know the general idea is that the planet is one giant self regulating organism. I don't know if he includes people and consciousness in the theory but I'm in agreement with him if he does .
OK expanded thought process over, back to sitting on my rubber ring and letting my sit bones recover :)

We could take this concept further and have a register of special tools that people would be willing to lend/rent out.
Here in Australia very few bike shops would carry any Rohloff tooling, even for basic repairs.
I would put my name down that I have a removal tool, in Western Australia

I am 8 or 9 miles SE of Edinburgh (UK) and have a fairly comprehensive tool kit in the garage.
Send me a PM and drop in if you need cycle help.
Julian.

Good idea. Is there a such a Rohloff thing already?
When I was in Kuala Lumpur I contacted the local distributor for something???
He was very helpful / knowledgeable. I was after a grub screw for my hub.
I can't seem to find his details or work out where I got them from, I must have just googled it?
Call on me by all means if you are in Herts. I'm HP3.
