New (shiny red) Sherpa
« on: January 25, 2015, 11:55:17 am »
Hello,

my new Sherpa is now complete. Except wheels, everything build up by myself.
As clean, as it is today, it will never be again  ;D

Fabulous! There is something about that red too; looks like its in the starting blocks ready to go on the "B of the Bang'  :)

There's just something about a Sherpa that looks so "right"!

Best,

Dan.

Ah, securing that electrical conductor along the top tube, that is a little tricky! It was easy to use black zip ties on my black Nomad! But with that beautiful red... maybe just some clear tape? It hardly needs much strength, but too much freely dangling wire looks risky!

That bike sure looks eager for a ride!

Nice bike, Heiko--well done!  Echoing Jim's suggestion of clear tape: the one you want is hockey tape--easily removed, no Bad Sticky Residue.  Flag down a wandering Canadian--they'll have some in their kit  :-)

That bike's too nice to ride and get dirty. It belongs on the living room wall behind the sofa. 'Cos it's a work of art.

The Irish are nearer to him. They play a game called "hurling", which isn't the aftermath of competitive drinking, but Gaelic hockey. Handle tape is sold in the supermarkets, near the gum shields.

So, reading this, I thought, "Whaaa? Wot's 'e on about, then? Andre's pretty clear about most things, and I know about the hurley, so...??"  And then, heel of hand-to-forehead, "Of course, he's talking about FIELD hockey!"

So, Heiko, the tape you want isn't hurley-stick-handle stuff--it's clear hockey tape, the clear plastic stuff made with a nice bit of lengthwise stretchiness that you gives you the tension you need so you can wrap it around your skates' ankles if you need to, or keep your shinpads properly located in your hockey socks, as the stuff was designed to do; OR you can use it as inexpensive-but-effective paint protector on Thorn's excellent products; OR as a ditto hanging-wire fixer-in-place; OR as a ditto handy removable-in-the-spring sealant on leaky window frames to shut out winter winds; and even as ditto emergency wound-closer if, perish the thought, you need it for that.  3M make it, as you might guess, but in my experience the best stuff comes from the small town of Renfrew, a little way up t' Valley from Ottawa, otherwise once famous for lumber and still for quality maple syrup.

Hope this helps, Andre, and best wishes from t'other side of the Great Cultural Divide, a.k.a. The Pond.  - J.
