Transport for London is testing a 'cycle-safe' roundabout system ...

It is based on infrastructure in place in the Netherlands. It is great to see that things are moving forward here in the UK. If you want to
keep this momentum going there is a government petition for UK residents or British Citizens abroad here ...

If 100,000 signatures are required, the report will be considered for debate in Parliament. Go for it! ;D

It is nice to see that cyclists are being considered but to be honest I am not a fan of any road system that segregates cyclist and motorists. Investment should be put into one system that is safe for all to use.
If cyclists are not safe on current roundabouts it is probably down to either poor driving or poor cycling.

I agree; is it too much to ask for us all to respect one another and share the roads safely?!

I don't see a problem with physical separation. In fact, I find it a lot less stressful to cycle on dedicated cycle lanes. Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians just travel at very different speeds usually and I think it would be smoother for everyone with separate lanes. I commute in traffic every day and that's fine, but I don't enjoy it much. Whenever I go cycling for fun, I try and find traffic free routes on dedicated lanes. Roundabouts are a nightmare for less confident cyclists (ask my girlfriend) and this seems like a much better take on it.

My issue with segregated cycling area is that it cannot be comprehensive and then when cyclist and motorists have to share the same road neither are experienced or considerate of the other.
