Boy! It sure is a sad thing to run out of air -- and altitude:

I have to admit, in this case I'd look at the unsuccessful attempts and figure "Eh -- not worth it" and walk away with my bones intact.

Lot of points for fearless determination and some mad skills, though.

Best,

Dan.

For those in the UK or otherwise able to access BBC iPlayer, good documentary on last night about Paralympian David Smith and his efforts to recover from spinal tumour surgery, culminating in cycling up Mont Ventoux three times in one day.
Available on iPlayer here http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b064k1q5/dead-man-cycling

Anto.

Thanks, another enjoyable evening. Like you I'd rather watch these than the TV. I liked the section in the first film with the drawing board, it reminded me of when I started in a drawing office at 16 as a trainee draughtsman many years ago, now it's all cad which I must admit is quicker especially if the drawing needs revising.

It is possible to watch these on TV if you...

1) Have a "Smart" (Internet-enabled) television
...or...
2) Have a plug-in gadget to make your present television Internet-enabled. These can be standalone units (Chromecast, Amazon FireTV, Roku, or AppleTV and others), or integrated with peripherals, like Blu-Ray players. Most of these gadgets will upscale, so even videos uploaded to YouTube in lower resolution will look better in HD or UHD.

Viewing YouTube videos on television does make for a very "TV-like" experience compared to seeing them on a computer monitor or smartphone.

For those interested in cycle-touring videos, a rich resource is available on Vimeo, as described here:
