Title: Tight EBB on Mercury
Post by: Mike Ayling on January 02, 2019, 05:20:43 am
Last time I loosened the four EBB tightening bolts the EBB slid around easily.

This time it was very difficult to move. I dripped a bit of oil into the keyhole slots under the four bolts but it did not do much good.

How do I lube the EBB case so that it slides around more easily?

Mike

Hi, Grease on the eccentric works best. The shell of the eccentric is stainless so not very springy, because of this the tabs sometimes need prying apart, you can use a flat screwdriver with the bolts removed, or use the coin method shown here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdFLDSeK7LY

Thanks Dave,

I will give that a go next time.

Be careful with the coin method of prising open the shell. In my case it made matters worse!
