THE LORDS MY SHERPA, I SHALT NOT WALK
« on: March 04, 2010, 05:48:00 pm »
I decided that since everybody else is uploading then so would I.
So it once round with a face cloth and the digi cameras out.
I purchased my Sherpa last year after mucking around with all types of bikes.
I was looking for a good, do it all type of bike ,that would be used daily for work and could also be loaded for a bit of touring.
I must admit, I’m not disappointed, does exactly what it says on the tin.
Thank goodness I never bought that Surly Long Haul Trucker.
The Sherpas used on a daily 32 mile round trip work commute and make mincemeat out of the bombed out Scottish roads.
8 weeks from now she’s (Queenie) being wrapped in a plastic bike bag and flying to Munich for a jaunt along the Danube (Passau to Vienna)
My mate Bob’s accompanying me on the trip and we will post a thread of the journey on our return
Just got the front rack, bar bag and panniers to attach then it off to recapture our youth.
There’s something primitive about carrying your bed and board with you, self reliance and all that jazz.
I’ve also never worked out why people name there bikes, although I did have a campervan called Denise (Denise Van Outing)………Go figure.

The wait is over.
As the owner of a Sherpa 460XL myself, I've been looking forward to seeing pics of this bike. :)
Heard about it some time ago, from your mate Bob.

For a 32mls daily commuter, how do you keep so immaculate?
Or is it it case of, red Sherpas may go quicker, but black Sherpas stay cleaner. ;)
Anyway, I'm off to give my bike a bit of a 'spit+polish' :-[

Enjoy your tour.

Mike

Bobs,
The medications been reduced and it's all becoming clear......Yes, I remember now.
You were also on that trip, also have an imagination (limited) and have access to a lap top & photos.
I could not solely claim ownwership of the log entries, and since the trip was a joint adventure, it must remain that way.

Mikerr,

Keeping it clean easy , elbow grease and a Brillo.
If theres one thing I can vouch for, its the satin black paintwork.....its bomb proof and very difficult to mark or chip.
Maybe something to think about if anybodys thinking of purchacing one.
The red though does look the biz.....I'm more stealth fighter than Red Arrows though.
Chocks away ginger!

My recollection was that I did the booking, took the photo's and looked after you. All you had to do was record it.
