Title: Panniers for suspension forks
Post by: Stom on April 25, 2006, 01:35:05 pm
I'm intending to tour off-road this summer - last time I did it I had rigid forks and used Blackburn LoRiders on the front - vcery stable, very useful, very good ...
I'm wanting to run suspension forks this time round - but what should I do about front panniers?
Don't want the capital outlay for a trailer - would rather just use what I have (front & rear panniers!).
Options so far have included racks by OMM, Delta Shocktreatment, Tubus Swing ... what are opinions on these/others?
Can I just transform my Blackburn LoRiders with some cunning clamps and a prayer or two?
Comments welcome - ta!

Have you looked at carradice limpets?

I've got two of the Old Man Mountain Cold Springs front racks and have used them on several bikes - including with suspension fork.  They work well and are quite light.

Hi Stom,i sourced alternative u bolts from my local motor factors there are lots of sizes available.cushion them with rubber tubing or cut some old inner tube,Drill an extra hole in the upper mount to accommadate if necessary.Use a longer (rear)skewer which will pass through the Blackburn lower eyelets using spacers as necessary.Wheel removal takes longer but is not really a problem.I fitted the Blackburn low riders to the Magura forks on my Raven Catalyst in this way.
