Ouch. I feel for him.

Ian...one of the hallmarks for a successful tour is learning what you want to do, and being flexible enough to accommodate that, even if it means changing plans. You're doing that, and I think its great.

Being able to fund the thing, and going and returning safely in good health are all practical realities that really should be accommodated, but are far too often overlooked in the first blush of the romance of Adventure Travel and the planning related to it. Your approach is a wise one. All accolades your way for dealing with these things and recognizing the need for a change of route and focus. Well done! Nothing is lost by the delay, and you'll be better prepared for a more enjoyable and successful trip as a result. After all, this is supposed to be fun, right? Of course it is, and since you'll be the one in the saddle, it has to be the kind of trip you'd want to take.

Sounds to me like things are shaping up nicely for a wonderful adventure tailor-made to your needs.

All best wishes,

Dan.

Wise words Dan, however I dont think you actually exist..... I think you are a secret software experiment that takes the experiences of cylists on all forums around the globe and then computes the answer on a massive computer buried beneath the kalahari desert.

If you are a human you will be able to see the following code.

Hi Ian, for some reason I can't find your other technology/tour/map thread??
I've only had 3 cups of tea so that might have something to do with it.
I saw this on http://www.travellingtwo.com/
Twittertrip
Sounds perfect for an easy map updating idea.
Even if you don't use twitter, just use it for this.
I'm certainly going to test it out.

as for Dan, we all know he's CIA and he's scouting for operatives to go deep undercover;)
