Title: New 8 Speed Shifters
Post by: timddeb on November 18, 2007, 04:04:09 pm
Anyone know if there are any direct substitutes for the Shimano 8 speed RSX shifters? Mine are so worn they won't change in the cold.[:(]

Do you need STI or trigger shifters?
The only 8-speed STI still in the Shimano catalog is the ST-R500 - see
http://www.shimano.com.au/catalog/cycle/products/component.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441763170&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302037384&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181400&bmUID=1195439401017
(Shimano Europe site was out of action, so this is the Australian site)

For trigger shifts, there is a flat-bar road shifter SL-R440-8 - see
http://www.shimano.com.au/catalog/cycle/products/component.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441763103&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302037390&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181400&bmUID=1195439685831
or the mountain/comfort bike SL-M410 - see
http://www.shimano.com.au/catalog/cycle/products/component.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441771266&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302037255&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181400&bmUID=1195439799660

You can probably also find some older 8 speed shifters lurking on the back shelf in bike shops, or on eBay.

I had the old RSX 8 speed STis - replaced them with Shimano Sora.
