Title: Sherpa Chainline
Post by: Baron o Buchlyvie on August 12, 2017, 11:34:22 pm
Hi folks.

What is the ideal chainline for a Thorn Sherpa bike? I'm building it back up from scratch and don't have a huge amount of time to figure it out for myself before I go away.  :-[

I don't have the measurements, I just followed crankset manufacturer recommendations when I sized a bottom bracket spindle.

I think virtually every bike with a 135mm dropout spacing will be the same, assuming you are using an 8 or 9 or 10 speed cassette.

I built my Sherpa with Shimano xt triple with outer bearings I think it was m771 cranks worked like a dream.only thing tho get the bottom bracket shell faced  so as the bearings sit dead flush to BB shell.have fun great bike the Sherpa built like a tank,if your not going to use front panniers get a carbon fork make for a much lighter bike.
