Nice bike. Thanks for posting.
I always enjoy reading the spec.
Have I missed the size of the rest cog?
Front is 44
-
Very nice bike, ready for a round the world trip.
-
Currently at £2222.22! :o

Lots of high end stuff.

Has SJS ever sold a Nomad with a sprocket other than 17?
I use a 44/16 ratio (chainring/sprocket) for around home and general use, but for serious touring the buyer is going to want a smaller chainring. (I use a 36/16 ratio for touring. I bought my Rohloff seperate, thus I have the default sprocket size instead of the SJS norm of 17.)

Has SJS ever sold a Nomad with a sprocket other than 17?
I believe I have seen one fitted with their bespoke Thorn-branded 19t screw-on sprocket fitted at some point, but it has been awhile and I may have misrembered. It may have been sold by a private party instead.
https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/sprockets/thorn-sprocket-for-rohloff-hubs-19t/?geoc=US
At one point, I feel sure I saw a private-party Nomad offered with a 21t sprocket fitted. Certainly the cogs themselves have been available for awhile.
All the best,
Dan.

Ho-hum, another Thorn going to a new owner at what seems a great price! But for any of us with maybe slightly smaller pockets, here's another Thorn to get us salivating!

Right, so the bike was up for bidding. At the end of the description it said "I have a buy it now price, contact me at this email br****@gmail.com
I asked for the price, the reply was £1500. Seller offered 6 days return on item in email ( :o ).
Payment details were shortly sent over with instruction to pay into an Italian bank account. It looked like an email from ebay, came from ebay@ebay-buyer-help.com. Just to be safe, I logged into my eBay to see the message. No message anywhere! Then I thought, if I pay with bank transfer, there's no PayPal protection.
So I googled his email. It came up with past ebay auctions. Dug it up from Google cache as they were auctions that have finished. One had a mobile number!!!! Messaged the person asking if they are the sellers of the Thorn bike. The response was "no, my account was hacked, report them to ebay"
I have the name, bank details of the person, going to eBay with it now. Mind you the name could be fake. Not sure if it had to be genuine.
Anyway just thought I'd share this. Some caution did save me from getting robbed. Always follow ebay rules ( no sale outside of eBay ::)) , pay with PayPal and don't believe fake emails.

Thanks so much for posting this saga, David. So sorry for the hassle, but it sure made a good read! :)
Glad you exercised due diligence and came out okay as a result. Some just aren't worth going after!
All the best,
Dan.

The bike is back for sale again from another backed account.
I have reported it to ebay as fraudulent item / seller.
Beware!
-
It's still up with a buy it now price of £1400 and free postage
-
It has been listed from at least 3 ( ! ) different accounts in the last couple of days.
Buy it now, but the trick comes when you try to pay. :-\
-
Have you seen the other stuff he has for "sale" humedavid?
-
No I haven't.
-
He has thousands and thousands of £'s worth of bike's
-
... and multiple accounts... How sad!
-
Thanks for posting this, amazing how they thought they could get away with it but i suppose it might work. You'd think eBay would have set up a system to prevent this.
Thanks again for your very helpful post.
-
Its back!
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122489368613
Are they not SJS photos and thus owned by them?
-
Oh, it gets even murkier.
The email address given for a "Buy It Now" price in the most recent eBay listing referenced above uses the domain name "Woxrent", which ICANN shows is registered to a party in Kirkland, Washington USA. However, *their* contact email address is bogus. The company is listed as a "Privacy Protection Service" and their contact phone number comes back to a Patents.com LLC that operates as a subsidiary of Internet Real Estate Group LLC. *Their* VOIP number comes back to an address in Bellevue, Washington USA and is associated with a number of complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau. That number is also associated with a firm dba as Careerealism Co, bestwebsitesdesigner.com, lcumminsgroup.com, Bozz Inc, allbirds.com, Shekinah Art Gallery, also in Bellevue and Kirkland, and dozens of other business names including FastAuctionProfit, subject of a complaint filed here: http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/fastauctionprofit-producer-media-fastauctioncom-cs-center-seoguidecom-pmkeywords4success/internet/fastauctionprofit-producer-media-fastauctioncom-cs-center-seoguidecom-pmkeywor-242175.
The contact number also comes back to a number of other businesses listed here with various postal (zip) codes: http://www.smallbusinessdb.com/tel/4252740657
If you choose to visit these sites, use caution; my virtual machines picked up several nasty varieties of malware, fortunately erased when I deleted my VMs on restart.
They are listed in a complaint on 800Notes.com as being a spammer who uses UK web pages. Their real registrar is name-services.com, though it is well hidden.
They are busy little bees, for sure.
Best,
Dan.
EDIT: Annnnnd the latest listing is now gone by the time I finished writing this.

Sorry, can't resist it: 'Book 'em, Danneaux' :D

All the best,

'Book 'em, Danneaux'
;D
-
The malwares might explain how they got hold of so many ebay accounts! ( keyloggers)
-
It's up again "for sale". Beware!
-
Horrors!
That thing has more lives than a cat.
Thanks for the update.
Best,
Dan.

Just googled his business address,it comes up as a house in Arnold, and at the time of the photo it's up for lease

The fraudster hacks into people's Ebay account and advertises fake items. What Google gave you was probably the original account owner's address.
