Two weeks is enough time to strip and service the bike in the kitchen, well one week for that and another to try and clean up the mess...

Ah, the Lure of America...'tis a dangerous thing, Anto, but if you're feeling sorry for yourself, don't seek comfort in Hank's hurtin' music. It's risky if you're feeling a bit down -- I mean, look what happened to him.
Instead, treat yourself and the bikes to a canter, and again, and again. Then, pour yourself a warm one, and have a listen to a song about leaving for America, and then coming back. You'll know this one, I'm sure, by your man Luke, and while it's not exactly about leaving Ireland, it is about the Irish leaving for America: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrG6p1VljnQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrG6p1VljnQ)

Two weeks - you could do a respectable cycle tour in that time.
When my wife went to Peru for a month with her friends I jumped at the opportunity for a long solo tour.
As it was October I headed south to Spain.
