Gear and Brake outer Cables
« on: April 23, 2014, 07:43:45 am »
I am doing a recable of the Nomad and just looking at which outers to go for.

Shimano seems to be far more expensive than offerings by either Jagwire clarks etc. Is the product worth the extra price?

To be honest I am sure there are differences but how much those differences make I am not sure.

I recently did the brake cables on my Sherpa the old ones were from another bike that was over 10 years old and the outers were beginning to break down and they were cheap ones at the time.

I got some Stainless Steel clarks version and they seem to be ok, they work and I have noticed any stretch on them.

I would say be careful how much you pay, I got mine from Halfords with the click and buy offer and it worked out very reasonable, matched the SJS price and I collected them so no postage.  I have seen these same ones for sales at lots more at other vendors.

I got these.

Regarding brake cables and covers, I just asked SJS Cycles last week ... Josh replied quickly saying these were recommended for the Raven Tour ...

You would be best to drop an email to SJS Cycles to confirm that they would be OK for the Nomad. Sorry, not sure about gear cable covers though!
