Retrofitting rear mech end to a Raven...
« on: August 05, 2006, 01:13:04 pm »
I've seen these frames for sale lately on Ebay UK. Where's the point? Is it that the initial cost of a Rohloff bike is too high?. Here's the link:

I forgot to mention that I've nothing to do with this auction or the seller. It's just my curiosity.

yep, i agree with you ... i would put it in the 'why bother' catergory too ...
why buy a rohloff spefic frame to weld on a deraileur hanger [at considerable cost too as he has said] and install a normal rear wheel ... why not just buy a Sherpa, xTc or a nomad frame to start with???

I Email this Guy (through Ebay) He wanted to sell the frames outside of Ebay.  The guy maybe legitimate but whenever someone says this to me a red flag goes up.

He did have 3 frames for sale – seams to have sold 1.

Do such framesets make sense now that the production of the Nomads has ceased?

Rob - I had the same thought however I don't think SJSC still produce the 'true blue' paint finish (as on one frame).  Therefore I don't think that these are a pre-production batch.  Also If they were pre-production / development items SJSC would say so and sell them under there Ebay account.
