They didn't want a bar of me as I don't "look" like a cyclist - another shop tried that on with me in Auckland in the 1980s so I went down the road and spent 10s of 1000s with them over
the next few years! This kind of revenge is sweet!

In the UK!
Money in hand looking to buy a topend  US made mountain bike.
Only to be asked where in the UK I rided? When I said I did not ride in the UK and reply was sorry we do not sale topend Mountain Bikes to be stick to a wall!

I replyed that I did not live in the UK! But worked in europe and Mountain Biked every 2nd day!
Reply back sorry Yes we can sell it to you (me)???

I said F... O.. and walked out the door with my £5000+
