Design and bicycles
« on: April 19, 2013, 07:44:42 am »

I have just found this site:

http://www.designboom.com/design/ecals-clever-bicycle-accessories/#.UW_g4ophvgM.twitter

Scrolling down that page, there is a video showing all the different designs.

Oh! Nicely found, Tartalo!

This will keep me busy looking and thinking for awhile...

I love the designs, but have some serous concerns about the safety aspects wrt clearances (if the bottle-brush spray deflector catches the tire, or the presta valve cap hangs up on the brake blocks --!  :o) and there seems to be some Magic involved (the bungee "tire chains" go from being draped over the tire by the rider to trapped between tire and rim!  ;D) and the linked front/rear brakes scare me to death but I applaud the clean design and execution.

Despite the practical drawbacks, they all remain wonderfully entertaining design exercises and it is always nice to see minds at work on fresh ideas. I especially liked the zip-tie bell where the ringer is the tie-end.

Fun stuff to see!

Best,

Dan. (...who wonders how the wheelying rider in the video managed to stop safely with no front wheel!)
