My household insurance has bikes covered up to £5000. Cover is worldwide away from home as well, and excess is £50 usually only. I work at an insurance broker and we've got a household scheme which has some really good cover. I can give you the details if you are interested...

We have an insurance agent on board, but I would have thought you could ask Thorn what they would sell your bike to you for and insure it for that. Presumabl, privately you paid less than a dealer would charge, but a replacement might have to come from Thorn to get it in a timely manner.
